Mayor Robin Tagle of Abucay cited last week the vital role of barangay officials in the segregation of garbage before they are collected by garbage trucks.
In an interview, Tagle said barangay officials, in coordination with concerned residents play “a crucial role in keeping the community clean and orderly.” “Sa barangay level pa lang dapat ma-implement na ang waste segregation para isang bagsakan na lang,” the mayor said.
Abucay town has been chosen as the site for a pilot project for multi-million peso integrated provincial landfill where Bataan towns will dump their garbage. At present, Bataan towns dump their tons of garbage in a landfill owned by Metro Clark Waste Management Corporation. As per records, each town allocates millions of pesos a year solely for garbage disposal expenditures. Tagle said the proposed integrated garbage site to be put up through Public Private Partnership in his municipality has yet to push through while some issues are yet to be tackled.
